Best Glock Clones - When Glock's patent on the Gen3 system expired, many companies (including Shadow Systems) began producing complete guns based on this design.
Their goal was to take the Glock Gen3 design and improve upon it. Making the pistol cross compatible with Glock parts while offering a great factory price.
Best Glock Clones
Over the years, people have collected and modified Glock pistols. Usually with a lot of aftermarket parts, but Shadow Systems wanted to offer this complete package out of the box so the user doesn't have to buy anything aftermarket.
Alpha Foxtrot Releases Two Glock Compatible Aluminum Frames
There are many details about the Shadow System MR920L that we will cover in this review. This sets it apart from the standard Gen3 Glock. We'll help you determine if the MR920L is good enough to buy for any factory Glock weapon.
The Shadow System MR920 series is a pistol shaped like the Glock 19. The pistol we are looking at in this article, the MR920L, has a 19 gauge frame with a 17 gauge slide.
This is a pattern that people have been asking Glock to release over the years. Glock has not used this concept except for the Glock 47 Border Patrol release.
If you want something in this format, you'll either have to assemble it yourself using spare parts or buy an MR920L.

The shorter handle makes it a bit more concealable than a true 17 gauge shotgun. A longer barrel does not create noticeable disadvantages.
If you carry this gun on your waistband (IWB) for three or four hours, the extra barrel length won't matter. In theory, the trunk could slide down a little more and print through the pants, but this is not a common problem for most people and body types.
If you'll be carrying this gun on your belt, the extra length can make a big difference. You want to make sure your shirt or jacket completely covers the bottom of the holster. A long gun can make the task more difficult.
If you're looking for a service-sized gun, you can also opt for a 17-length handle, while still getting the extra power offered with a gun of this size.

In my opinion, the Shadow System MR920L is truly made for concealed carry. It is still a heavy gun based on the Glock design. It won't be as slim and long as a pistol like the Glock 48 or the SIG P365 XL.
For this reason, you should understand that you are carrying a big gun. This gives you some advantages. We'll cover them below in our Shadow System MR920 review.
The Shadow Systems MR920L comes from the factory with two Magpul PMAG magazines. I like Magpul products, but I don't think they have done a good job with their Glock magazines.
I've had a lot of problems with them myself, even with the earlier magazines I bought.
Review: Lone Wolf Arms Ltd19 V1
I'm shooting a Glock Magpul in this review, but I only got 500 rounds through one of them. This is when my old magazines started to fail.
So far I haven't seen any signs of failure. Also, I didn't hard run them to see if it wouldn't work later.
I wish they came with Glock magazines, but I understand that Glock probably doesn't sell directly to the competition. I can send PMAG for training. I typically carry a pistol with a Glock OEM magazine that I know will be reliable.
The magazines they send are Glock 19 Magpul magazines. They hold 15 rounds, but you can also get 10-round versions if you live in tight quarters.

The great thing about carrying Glock magazines is that you can use the factory 24-, 33-, or 17-round magazines (or, heck, Glock drums) in the pistol. This gives you many different capacity options.
So when you try to insert a log, it doesn't help much. It's easy enough with good technique, but it doesn't give you an advantage over many other guns like the standard Glock Gen 5.
One of the advantages of the lampshade system is that it comes with a polymer accumulator. It can be attached to a gun and actually fired. The downside to this is that it also negatively affects stealth. This adds a large grip width.
It works very effectively, but I decided not to use it on the gun since I plan to use the MR920L for concealed carry.

Instead, they tried to improve the overall ergonomics of the Gen 3 19 frame, giving the gun a feel that resembles the base design.
Shadow System The MR920L uses a removable rear strap system that allows you to change the angle of the gun grip. They offer three different sizes so you can customize the gun and its grip angle to suit your specific shooting style.
That little lip allows you to keep your pinky there and give the rim a little more leverage. Combined with the beaver tail and the pistol tail, the lip strengthens your hand's grip on the gun.
Also added an undercut under the trigger guard. This combined with the other two features mentioned above really strengthens this hand. This naturally gives you a better grip on the MR920L.
What's The Best 380 Pocket Pistol?
If you've ever shot 3rd generation Glocks, you know that in their factory non-undercut stock configuration, you'll have to work hard to get a firm grip on the gun.
You'll also get a "Glock Fist" as a result. (Not that you won't still get a little, but it will be much less, and like I said before, keep your hand very high on the gun.)
This gun has a small beaver tail. This will prevent everyone from cutting the slide, which may be a problem for some Gen3 Glock users.
One thing I don't like about the beaver tail is that if you hold the gun with your finger on the top of the rear sight before taking the shot, it's a little less comfortable.

It also creates more room for your hands. Then you can screw up the index you get while holding the gun.
If you don't have your finger on the top of the rear sight while shooting the gun, that's a really big plus and you really like the design.
Another interesting addition to the frame is the cutouts in the front of the frame behind the rail.
These cutouts allow you to position your finger so that you can get leverage. When fired, the gun creates a small shelf to resist recoil forces.

They are the same on both sides with the texture of that part of the gun. I personally don't use them when holding a gun, but they are there if you have the option. I don't see any real downsides to them.
It is aggressive enough that you can get a good grip on it. It's comfortable to carry without being over the top.
It has a slightly different texture. In terms of feel, the Shadow System unit is virtually identical.
Overall, the MR920L doesn't feel comfortable in the hand, but it does feel secure. When it comes to controlling the recoil of a gun, I'll take the safety any day.

Ergonomically, it's great from a shooting perspective. If you are looking for a gun that fits comfortably in your hand, this is not for you. This forces your hand to be where it needs to be to grip the gun properly.
The teeth work very well for the press to check the gun. There are two electrical cutouts in front of the exhaust port.
They create a nice aesthetic bump while allowing the copper-plated barrel slide to show through.
The rear cogs are equally aggressive and work well for riding. They don't look sharp at all, but they work really well, even if you have sweaty or bloody hands.
The 7 Best Alternatives To A Glock Pistol
I noticed that the serrations on the front of the gun show signs of poor machining. Looks like they let the tooling get a little old for that part of the gun. In contrast, the finish of the rear and top teeth is very clean for the most part.
There are two slits on the front of the front tooth. This tells me that my gun may have just been an unlucky gun that had its trigger too far away.
The MR920L is a lot cheaper than buying something like a full agency, but at the same time it's still more expensive than a factory Glock. It's best not to get these machining marks on the rifling, even on the gun.
After all, this is a gun I'm going to beat up and use, so it doesn't bother me.
